No Such Thing as a Free Lunch – Wrong

by | Mar 11, 2014

Barry-StevensI recently attended an AWS Lunch and Learn on a new service, Kinesis, that they are releasing.  I’ll leave it up to Steven Ensslen to blog about the cool things that Kinesis is.
This was the second AWS lunch and Learn I have attended I have found the lunch and learns very informative, a good introduction to the topic they are presenting, and a good chance to network with other users of AWS.  For someone who works from home it is always good to get out of the cave once and a while.
If you get the chance and are interested in AWS and the services they provide I recommend registering for the next one.
AWS are still offering places on their NZ training at no cost (I hope that doesn’t change but I am sure it will soon), have resources that can help you reduce your spend with AWS by optimising your AWS environment, and whenever possible reducing the cost of the services they provide – what a great business model – make it as easy as possible for people to use and learn your services so they continue to in the future.
Maybe some other IT vendors out there should take a look at what AWS do especially in regards to training and making it easy for users to embrace their technology.
Finally the lunch was free and tasted great.

Unfortunately my comment about free training is no longer correct and there is now a fee to attend instructor lead training in New Zealand, however AWS continue to put on the lunch and learns every month – big thumbs up
