Hello and happy how-is-it-December-already?!

What a year 2018 has been.  We hope yours has been exciting, full of opportunity and you’re looking forward to a well deserved break very soon.

This newsletter is the last for the year, so taking the opportunity to share some information to help keep you safe over the summer, as well as the usual OptimalBI news and events.

Have a wonderful holiday break, see you next year!

Cheers, Victoria.

So many announcements have come out of AWS re:Invent and quite a few in the BI space including machine learning, AI, datastores, visualisation, data extract/processing, cloud security, compute/networking, as well as hybrid cloud and cloud management.  Tim Gray has put together a blog summarising all the BI announcements in one place, take a read.

Holiday driving tips

Driving in the holiday period isn’t like the rest of the year.  There’s more cars on the road, and often you’re a bit stressed out.

Get to know Ben

Meet Ben, he’s got a knack for finding simple, elegant solutions to complex problems in data warehouses.  He wrote the blog about relational databases (above) which was inspired from us recruiting a junior developer this year.

Past the point of swinging and missing, you’ll find Ben on the golf course a fair bit this summer – he says he’s actually starting to enjoy the game now the ball stays on the fairway (most of the time).

Connect with Ben Lee on LinkedIn.
