Kia ora and welcome to November!

Once again, we’re moving swiftly towards the end of the year wondering how that happened so quickly!

Thank you for being part of the OptimalBI whānau in 2018.  We hope you enjoy all the festivities over the coming weeks and have a wonderful break.

There’s some events happening in Wellington in the coming weeks that are perfect for those working in our sector, take a look and see if you’d like to head along.

#WellyTech

Did you know that there’s an upcoming event for everyone who’s part of the Wellington Tech community?  On Friday November 30th, head on down the Cake Tin to join ALL of Wellington IT – from the Ministers to those who actually make the computers do what they do.  It’s free, but you need to register!

Ensemble Logical Modeling Meetup

With Data Vault legend Hans Hultgren being back in Wellington for a Certified Data Vault Data Modeling course, he’s also running an ELM Meetup for those who want an introduction to it.  He’ll present for about 45 minutes, and there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A as well.

AgileBI masterclass with Lawrence Corr

Lawrence Corr is coming back to Wellington in March for his agile data warehouse design masterclass and earlybird registrations are available until the end of January.  This is the perfect opportunity to learn from the man himself about modelstorming, gathering requirements and designing effective BI/DW systems.

Become a certified data vault data modeler with Hans Hultgren

Hans is back in Wellington this December to get a whole bunch more people data vault certified!  There’s still seats available so register now.  If you want to know more about data vault, take a look at some of our data vault blogs.

Spotlight on Scott

Meet Scott, who joined the team as a graduate a few years ago with a focus on UX, UI, design and web development.

Originally hailing from Whanganui, but loving big city life, Scott reckons if you haven’t yet canoed the Whanganui river, it needs to go on your to-do list!

Talk to him about:  The outdoor coffee table he’s made, or any of the wood and metal work projects he’s got on the go.

Connect with Scott Willan on LinkedIn.

Looking for further study options?

Recently 190 universities from around the world have released over 600 online courses which are available for FREE!  These are MOOC’s, or Massive Open Online Courses which offer subjects such as computer science, data science, programming, humanities, education, personal development, engineering and health just to name a few.  Some courses go for a couple of weeks, some much longer, but all are a great opportunity to get your teeth stuck in to a learning challenge.

Ngā mihi,
Bronnie
