Generally, you should not have to start or stop LSF, unless you come across issues where a flow has completed but the state still says running, or you have made configuration changes.

Starting and stopping the LSF services is very simple, but you can have a number of issues depending on how your site is set up. Lets cover the basics first, and then I will touch on some of the gotchas.

Starting LSF – run the following commands

  1. lsadmin
  2. limstartup
  3. restartup
  4. quit
  5. badmin
  6. hstartup
  7. quit

Stopping LSF – run the following commands

  1. lsadmin
  2. limshutdown
  3. reshutdown
  4. quit
  5. badmin
  6. hshutdown
  7. quit

Gotchas and tips

  • The lsadmin and badmin commands may not be in your system path. You can find them here: /SASSoftware/ThirdParty/Platform/lsf/9.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/bin or similar depending on your platform, version etc.
  • You may have to initialise your profile if you get errors running the above commands. You can find it here: /SASSoftware/ThirdParty/Platform/lsf/conf/profile.lsf or similar depending on your platform, version etc.
  • You may have LSF running on multiple servers including the Metadata server.
  • Type ‘help’ for assistance when using the lsadmin and badmin tools
